Apps must be real and honest
- The app must represent a business or group you run or are allowed to act for.
- Prices, offers, timings and product details must be true and kept up to date.
- Photos must be of your own products, place or work, or used with permission.
- You must not pretend to be another business or use another brand's name or logo.
Not allowed
- Apps for gambling, betting, lotteries or fantasy games played for money.
- Sale of weapons, drugs, tobacco, alcohol where restricted, or prescription medicines.
- Adult content, hate speech, harassment or content that harms children.
- Lending, investment or crypto schemes, or promises of guaranteed earnings.
- Fake reviews, fake ratings or paying users to leave ratings.
- Apps that collect personal data they do not need, or hide what they collect.
- Anything that breaks Google Play or App Store policies or the law.
Push notices
- Send notices only to users who allowed notifications.
- Notices must be about your business, such as offers, stock, bookings or changes to timings.
- No misleading claims, fake urgency or messages pretending to be from the phone system.
- Keep the number of notices reasonable so users do not feel spammed.
Customer data
- Use customer data only to serve your own customers.
- Do not sell, rent or share your customer list with other businesses.
- Delete a customer's data when they ask you to.
What happens if a rule is broken
We may ask you to change the app, pause push notices, hold a store submission or, in serious cases, suspend the app. Where possible we explain the problem first and give you time to fix it.
